DIY

I spend tons of time "pinning" on Pinterest, but rarely do I ever get the chance to make something that I've pinned. But alas! I made something and it was super easy.
All you need to make this adorable little jewelry stand is old plates, old candle sticks or wine glasses, spray paint, glue and of course some jewelry.
I went to goodwill for the plates and I found cute little wine glasses to use as a base. Now, I glued and then spray painted, which I believe is the right way.
For glue I would recommend using Henkle Loctite 4 gram Super Glue. You can get it on Amazon for around $3 and its made specifically for glass so it holds tight!
Once it dries add set it on your dresser or vanity, and add some jewelry! This is a great way to add some fun accessories without spending a lot of money. Thanks Pinterest!

Designer rooms on a budget

So this room had become an obsession of mine.... I'm moving moving in a little over a month and i'm dying to have this. Problem is, its a $20,000.00 designer room and I want to eat something other than ramen... So here is the plan. I talked my mom into giving me her grayish/taupe sectional. There's the wall color! The walls can stay white since the wall color is the color of my new inherited sofa. Next is the window panels. Thought it might be hard but turns out it was really easy. Trust ole' Bed Bath and Beyond has them for just $9.99!
Pink 84" Rod Pocket Sheer Window Curtain Panel
Now for that gorgeous coffee table! Shabby Chic White Wood and Glass Coffee Table
So I found and old coffee table..... my plan is to spray paint it gold and see how it turns out. After some fine tuning and some accessories placed just right this might work! Of course pictures to come when all moved in!
Welcome to TheInteriorDesign blog! I'm new to blogging but very excited about it. I moved to the great city of Pittsburgh, Pa in 2006 and began attending the Art Institute of Pittsburgh to pursue my dreams of being a designer. I am now pleased to call Pittsburgh my home and Interior Design my profession. I've only dipped my toes into the design industry but I've been completely submerged in design my whole life. Since I was a child I've always felt the need to make things look pretty. I can remember getting so irritated that my barbie furniture wasn't scaled to fit in my barbie home! In high school I worked at Bed Bath and Beyond, making beds and helping people chose the right draperies and it even went as far as me helping them put back those awful ones they had in their cart...In college I started as an Interior Design major and then switched to Industrial Design. Although I wish I would have graduated with an Interior degree I realize now that having a background of both majors has made me very well rounded. I can decorate your home and put up drywall!

I am "in love" with a lot of things, so although this blog is mainly about interior design, I will occasionally throw in  a great recipe (since i'm learning to cook) or a new Pittsburgh hot spot. My main focus is consignment finds, refurbished furniture and interior design diy. Before I forget I would also like to mention that I am a licensed interior designer and I would love to help you out with any type of design! So be sure to follow me on twitter @mb_decorandyou, and my facebook page decor and you. Hope you enjoy this!
